Nestled high in the remote San Jose de Lourdes district of northern Peru, El Diamante is a vibrant, washed caturra coffee sourced from three dedicated farming families in the village of the same name. This region is defined by its unique microclimate. Its cooler temperatures and high rainfall distinguish it from neighboring areas like Jaen and San Ignacio, producing a cup rich in citrus, with a buttery mouthfeel and deep complexity.
Expect a beautifully balanced profile with bright yuzu citrus, smooth caramel sweetness, and a dark chocolate finish.
The Chilcon family, key producers in El Diamante, work closely with nearby farmers to improve processing and connect their coffees to exporters in Jaen. Despite the logistical challenges posed by the area’s isolation, including river crossings without bridges, these producers continue to cultivate exceptional quality on small farms averaging just one hectare in size.
