About the Coffee
Gito is a distinctive lot sourced from Muraho Trading Co.’s washing stations in Rwanda’s Nyamasheke District. The name “Gito,” meaning “tiny” in Kinyarwanda, refers to the small screen size (13–14) typically sold to the commodity market.
By carefully separating and density sorting the cherries, our import partners Raw Material have uncovered exceptional quality in this lot — revealing a coffee with surprising depth, clarity, and a vibrant flavour profile. It is carefully hand-sorted and washed to produce a clean, refined cup.
Terroir & Sustainability
Grown in western Rwanda at high altitude, this region benefits from rich volcanic soils, cool temperatures, and a slow cherry maturation period — all contributing to the coffee’s complexity and sweetness.
Our partnership with Muraho Trading Co. supports local producers by improving processing techniques, increasing cup quality, and creating access to specialty coffee markets. This helps ensure farmers receive better prices and more sustainable long-term opportunities, strengthening both livelihoods and Rwanda’s coffee sector.
Why We Love It
Gito represents the best of Rwandan specialty coffee — clean, vibrant, and full of character. Every cup supports a more sustainable and equitable coffee supply chain, helping to deliver better outcomes for farming communities while showcasing the potential of carefully sourced, high-quality coffee.
